Staten Island Montessori School
At the Staten Montessori School we strive to promote parent involvement in everyday
activities. We believe that a strong partnership with parents is an integral part of child’s
total development. There are many established traditions at the Staten Island
Montessori School. Oktoberfest, Yearbook, Art Auction, Science Fair and Open House
are planned for and executed by parents. The staff is also responsible for a few
traditional events-specifically Mother-child night and Father-child night. These special
evenings are essentially an intimate sharing time between the child and his/her parent.
SIMS also offers free workshops here at the school for parents. Getting familiar with the
Montessori educational philosophy and using these learned skills at home can be
extremely beneficial in the whole process of your child’s education.

Our first Parent Association began about four years ago and we are extremely proud
of a core group of parents who have been so involved in their efforts to make our
school events the successes that they are.
Our parent committees along with our staff are certainly to be commended for their
dedication and work in achieving the goals set for the annual fund raisers, our
Oktoberfest, yearbook, holiday fair, science fair and art auction, etc. Over the years
there have been many volunteers, but below are some of our parents along with
Elaine Adamo, our Director, who worked so hard to make this year's holiday fair a
success.
Also included is our Newsletter Committee that makes it possible to keep our
parents up to date on the various upcoming events, workshops, blurbs from our
teachers, etc. Click on the most recent Newsletter for your information.
