orderliness, independence, cooperation and respect to others.   As a community based organization, Staten Island Montessori School

the emphasis on individual achievement.  The goal of the elementary program is to help children become learners for life.  Our
curriculum offers in depth Cultural Studies, Math, Language Arts, Science, Foreign Language, Art, Music and Physical Education.  At the
end of the school year each child will have fulfilled all the New York State requirements for his/her level.   Elementary school children

Middle School- The Institute of Cultural Studies

The Staten Island Montessori School is pleased to introduce the Institute of Cultural Studies, a new middle school program as of
September 2005.  We continue to follow the ideals and teachings of Maria Montessori often called an “Education for Life”.  Our middle
school experience will provide children with the tools needed to accomplish their educational goals and objectives.

At the Staten Island Montessori School we recognize the need for seamless education from preschool through 8th grade.  We are
committed to our students by offering a variety of learning opportunities that challenge and motivate students to be all they can be.
Global Studies, Science, Language Arts, are at the core of study while Culinary Arts and Gardening offer authentic learning situations
allowing students to discover through practical activity and exploration.  Staten Island Montessori School recognizes each student as
an individual and we promote critical thinking skills, encourage children to be life long learners, and aid in the development of personal
self esteem.  We understand that children should engage in meaningful learning experiences and we provide a curriculum that is both
engaging and challenging.  The Institute, while focusing on global education will encompass ecological studies, environmental
awareness and peace education.  Middle School students take a yearly Stanford Achievement Test to aid in curriculum planning and
evaluation.
